BSc. /B.A. Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

This programme is aimed  at producing graduates who will become general or ICT professionals who understand how businesses and organisations work and to be able to apply their knowledge and skills confidently in the fast changing technological world.

BSc. Business Administration

The programme is structured to provide a strong educational and professional background or foundation in the various areas of  business administration. It s also to prepare students for  possible MBA and other professionally related programmes.

BSc. Mathematics

This is an innovative programme to make mathematics more functional and practical to meet current job-market demands. It will serve as a basis for a higher education in other specialized and applied areas.

The areas of concentration of the BSc. Mathematics Programme are as follows:

• Mathematics with Statistics
• Mathematics with Accounting and Finance
• Mathematics with Banking and Finance
• Mathematics with Management
• Mathematics with Computing (ICT)

Admission Requirements for ICT, Mathematics and Business Administration.

WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS

Passes in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science, and any three Elective subjects including Mathematics (for ICT and Mathematics), with an aggregate score of 24 or better in the WAEC Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations. ICT applicants without elective maths but have a grade C or better in core Mathematics or Integrated Science may be considered.

Business Administration: Applicants must have passes in three core subjects: Core Mathematics, Core Science and Core English and three good elective passes in any of the following areas: Business/General Arts/Science/Visual Arts/Home Economics. Elective subjects may include Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Elective Mathematics, Type writing and Clerical Office Duties.

BSc. Business Economics

The programme will provide a wide range of courses in Economics necessary for a sound intellectual foundation in the management of all types of organization; to provide analytical techniques and develop the abilities of students to critically analyse and understand the Economics problems of organizations and businesses. It will also equip students with the  capacity to make good decisions in a rapidly changing economic, political, social, and technical environment and to develop entrepreneurs imbued with a sense of discipline who are alive to their responsibilities in the societies they operate in.

This Programme focuses on the traditional concepts/ theories of economics in micro and macro economics. What makes the Business Economics Programme unique is that in addition to the traditional economics the programme also focuses on major subject areas of Business Administration including Entrepreneurship and Accounting. Thus the programme equips the student in three major subjects essential to the word of business and industry. Obviously, a graduate with such a rich background will be preferred to the one with knowledge in only one of the subject areas.

A graduate in BSc. Business Economics will have versatile background as compared to someone with a degree in traditional Economics; and such a person will be a preferred candidate for employment in:

Admission Requirements for BSc. Economics

(a)  WASSCE/SSSCE: Applicants should have a pass in three core subjects: namely Mathematics, English and Integrated Science and three electives one of which should be a good pass in Elective Mathematics. The total score should be aggregate 24 or better.
