Programme Location: Akuapem Campus, Akropong 

This programme aims at deepening understanding of the dynamics of the environment, and of its inherent natural resources as they relate to human livelihood and survival. It explores the way the environment and the resourses are utilised . In this quest, it combines theory and practice, and places a refreshing emphasis upon buttom-up participatory methodologies and upon lessons from local resource management processes and practices. The knowledge gained is used to inform policy planning.

Programme Prospects 

A graduate, after this four-year Bachelor of Science (BSc.) programme, is expected to be in a solid position to analyze, plan and positively influence management of the environment and natural resources in very practical ways in a wide range of institutions or establishments such as:

  • Environmental Protection Agency;

  • Ministry of Environment and Science;

  • Ministry of Food and Agriculture,

  • Ministry of Forestry, Land and Mines; 

  • The Forestry Commission

  • The Minerals Commission

  • Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development

  • District Assemblies

  • National Development and Planning Commission

  • Faculties of Agriculture, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences in the Universities

  • Council for Scientific and Industrial Research;

  • United Nations Development Programme(UNDP);and,

  • United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
