Appointment of Head of Security: A Senior Member Position

The Presbyterian University College, Ghana a Private Multi-Campus Tertiary Institution with Its Head Office At Abetifi-Kwahu, is Seeking a Dynamic Person to Lead The Transformation of Its Security Services to Take Care of the Security Needs of Its Campuses.

Applications are Invited From Suitably Qualified Persons to Fill the Position of Head of the University’s Security Unit.

THE POSITION/JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head of Security shall, among other things,

  • Be the Head of the University Security Unit an shall be under the general supervision and direction of the Registrar
  • Provide University-wide leadership and direction in all areas of security, security best practices and security programmes including strategic planning and campus-wide collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the administration and departments within the University, the Police and other external groups to effectively resolve security-related issues.
  • Establish and implement short and long-term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, standards and operating procedures.
  • Monitor security conditions and advise Management on appropriate risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement a security training strategy for the University community and provide frequent communications concerning security
  • Institute effective measures that will ensure the protection of life and property within the University.
  • Effective changes in the University’s security sytem and personnel required for ensuring the highest level of security for staff, students and property of the University.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Applicants must be either retired or active commissioned officers of the security services in Ghana;
  2. Retired or active personnel of the Security Services not below the rank of Chief Inspector of the Ghana Police Service or Warrant Officer or equivalent
  3. Ability to read, write, and speak English, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a variety of local and international languages;
  4. Experience in a similar position for not less than 5 years
  5. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, must possess tact, maturity and good reasoning abilities
  6. Supervisory/administrative experience in the police/security/military
  7. Computer knowledge is an added advantage
  8. A first degree in Security Risk Management or a relevant tertiary qualification in a discipline that is related to the role [eg. Law, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Forensic Science, Peace and development], etc.

AGE:  Must not be more than 55 years  at the time of engagement.
