Overview


The programme is designed to produce trained and qualified business teachers who have adequate subject matter knowledge and can employ critical and reflective thinking in their analysis of educational issues in general, and curricular and pedagogical issues relating to business education in particular. This programme is accredited and affiliated to University of Cape Coast(UCC)

Graduates, apart from being employed as Teachers in this field of study can also work as International Business Consultants, Economic and Budget Analysts, Project Managers, Business Managers, Administrative Officers and a host of other Managerial and Administrative positions.  

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS


Admission requirements for the various categories of applicants are as follows:

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination  (SSSCE) Applicants

Grade D or better in three (3) in core subjects – core English, core Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects, including one of the following: Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Cost Accounting and Elective Mathematics.

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Applicants

Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects  – core English, core Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3) electives including one of the following subjects Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Cost Accounting and Elective Mathematics.

  • General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

Holders who possess passes in three (3) compulsory subjects including English Language and three (3) elective subjects including Business Mathematics will be admitted to Level 100

  • Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)

Holders with passes in Three Compulsory plus Three  optional subjects in the programme of study, OR  Applicants  with Stage 1 of ACCA, ICA, CIM with Credits at WASSCE/SSSCE in Three Core subjects and Three Elective Subjects or credits @ GBCE or ABCE or O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics. Shall be admitted into Level 200

  • Mature Applicants
  1. Must be 25 years and above.
  2. Must possess at least passes in 3 subjects including English and Mathematics at the SSSCE/WASSCE.
  3. Applicants without passes in English and Mathematics must pass the Entrance Examination in the General Paper, Education and a pass from one of the following: Accounting, Management, and Economics.
  4. Successful candidates will need to pass a selection interview in addition.
  • Applicants with Diploma in Business Studies in Accounting, Management or Statistics

Must pass the entrance examinations in the General Paper, and Education and if successful admitted to level 100

  • Applicants with Teachers’ Certificate or Diploma in Education will be admitted to level 100

Pass entrance examination in the General Paper,  Accounting, Management, and Economics and if successful admitted to level 100

  • Applicants with HND in Accounting, Management and Economics will be admitted to Level 300 if they

Pass entrance examinations in the General Paper, and Education.

  • Applicants with HND in areas other than those referred to in (e) will be admitted to Level 200 if they

Pass entrance examinations in the General Paper, and Education.

  • Foreign Qualifications

Foreign applicants with similar grades as Ghanaians will also be admitted and placed at the same level as their Ghanaian counterparts. In case the admission committee is not sure of a foreign certificate, it will be referred to NAB for verification.  

All applicants seeking placement at levels other than Level 100 will be made to register and read all compulsory PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION and GENERAL courses.
