Overview

The programme is aimed at producing graduates who will become ICT Professionals with understanding of how businesses and organizations work.  This would enable them to apply their knowledge and skills confidently in the fast-changing technological world. The programme is affiliated to University of Ghana, Legon and it is run at the Okwahu and Tema Campuses.


Admission Requirements

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Applicants


Must have Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) elective subjects. Applicants should have aggregate 36 (A1 – C6) or better in the WASSCE.

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) Applicants

Must have Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) elective subjects. Applicants should have aggregate 24 (A-D) or better in the SSSCE.

GBCE/ABCE Applicants

Holders of GBCE Certificate must have Credit passes in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English and Social Studies or Integrated Science in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE). In addition, the applicant must have passes in three (3) subjects; at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better in the Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (ABCE). Holders of only GBCE Certificate CANNOT be admitted on the basis of that qualification alone.

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

5 Credits (including English Language, Mathematics, an Arts subject and a Science subject) in the WAEC General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level Examination; and 3 passes at the Advanced Level of the GCE. One of the Advanced Level passes should be a grade D or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained.

Mature Applicants

Mature Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years or above and must have passes in English and Mathematics at the GCE O’Level/SSSCE/WASSCE. Applicants without passes in English and Mathematics must pass an entry-level test in English and Mathematics in conformity with criteria set by University of Ghana Legon.

HND/Diploma Applicants

Diploma holders from accredited Tertiary Institutions with at least two years working experience in addition to the basic qualification at SSSCE/OL/WASSCE may be admitted to Second Year of the programme. While applicants holding diploma with second class or better may be considered for admission without an interview, those who obtained below second class will only be admitted after passing an interview.

Foreign Applicants

Foreign students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the West African Examination Council shall determine equivalence. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.

WASSCE Candidates

Three (3) core subjects (A1—D7) comprising English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects (A1— C6).

SSSCE Candidates

Three (3) core subjects (A—E) comprising English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects (A—E).

GCE Advance Level Candidates

Passes in Three (3) relevant subjects and five (5) credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Technical School (Certificate II) Applicants (NABPTEX &TEU)

Applicants must have passes (A-E) in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies plus three (3) passes (A-E) in relevant elective subjects.

Technician Applicants (MET 1 / MVT 1 / AET 1 / AMW)

Applicants with Technician certificate (Part I and Part II) must have four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE Credits including English Language and Mathematics.

Access Applicants

Passes in English language, Mathematics and Science organized by NABPTEX, plus intermediate certificate or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in one (1) core subject, one (1) Science elective subject and any other science subject

Other entry Requirements

Certificate or Diploma holders from recognized higher institutions are eligible to apply for the programme. However, such Diploma / Certificate must be accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.

 General Entry Requirement for Mature HND Applicants

Applicant who have evidence of completing school at Advanced or Technical programmes,

GCE ‘O’ Level, GCE “A” Level, ABC, RSA, Stenographer, WASSCE/SSSCE, Teachers’ certificate or any recognized education and has attained the age of 25 years or above but has not met the above stated requirements are eligible to apply as mature candidates. In addition, such applicants:

a) Must be at least 25 years of age. The Applicants must provide a Birth Certificate as evidence.

b) Must also provide evidence of at least two (2) years working experience.
