The Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) has held a training workshop for the academic staff of the University. The four-day training workshop is aimed at improving the capacity of the academic staff for effective delivery of programmes for the 2015/2016 academic year.
In his welcome address to the participants, the Vice President of PUCG, Professor F. S. Arku urged the participants to take the training seriously. He said they should use what they gain from the training to increase knowledge and improve their skills so that they can improve upon the quality of their performance.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the President of PUCG, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, stated that the objectives of the Training Workshop were, among others, to ensure quality performance among teaching staff. Also, to equip academic staff with knowledge and skills to adequately prepare them for effective delivery of their mandate as lecturers, foster good relationship among lecturers and enhance staff satisfaction and motivation.
The president also called on the staff to show extra commitment to their work, loyalty to the University they serve and ignite the collegial spirit towards building a world-acclaimed University of excellence.
The President re-iterated the vision of PUCG Management to work towards the attainment of Presidential Charter in the near future.
The participants were advised to integrate the knowledge they have gained in Faith Learning Integration and make conscious efforts at incorporating moral values in their teaching and speak to the conscience of the students in order to bring change in their behavior, attitude and character towards learning and life.
The areas of study covered by the Training Workshop included Teaching and Assessment, E-Resource and their roles in promoting effective teaching and learning, Faith-Learning and Counseling.
The resource persons who handled the various topics for the training were Professor Y. K. Etsey and Dr. A. Dare both of UCC, Professor F. Rodrigues, CUC, , and Mr. Michael Thompson of KNUST.
