Students to be Sacked for Indecent Dressing

The Acting President of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG), Prof. Frank S. Arku, has asked all Lecturers and Assistant Registrars to send away any student to go and change into decent clothing if found improperly dressed.

He said the directive was not only the position of the University but also the Presbyterian Church of Ghana of which the University belongs.

“The way you dress speaks volumes about you and your future. We have a dress code in pages 46 and 47 of the Handbook and Students Guide that you are holding now. ‘Otto Pfister’ style of dressing is out! Ladies, you are too precious to dress with your underwear showing. My dear ladies, please, leggings should not be worn to any official gathering and lectures without proper covering. Let’s not copy blindly the attitudes of individuals without the fear of God and without respect for their bodies. Decency is what you should aim for any time you are heading to public spaces. I am asking Lecturers and Assistant Registrars to send students away to go and change into decent clothing if found improperly dressed. Colleagues and students, this is not the position of only this University but also the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to which PUCG belongs.  Let the Spirit of God guide you even in the little things like your appearance!”

He said this at the 12th matriculation ceremony of the University held at the Okwahu Campus with theme ‘PUCG: Achievements and Challenges’. In all 740 freshmen were formally admitted into the University for the 2014-2015 admission year.
