Vacancies for Directorates of Finance and Internal Auditor

The Presbyterian University College, Ghana a faith-based and multi-campus University College invites applications from qualified and competent professionals to fill the following vacant positions in the Directorates of Finance and Internal Auditor.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

The Director of Finance is the Chief Accounting Officer and head of the Directorate of Finance of the University. He/she is responsible to the President for coordinating and supervising all accounting and financial activities in the University College.

Qualification/Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

  1. Possess a researched post graduate degree in Accounting related area of specialization.
  2. Be a member of a recognized professional accounting body e.g. ICA, ACCA, CIMA etc in Ghana or abroad.
  3. Have at least five (5) years experience as a Deputy Finance Officer/Deputy Internal Auditor in a university or an analogous institution, or
  4. Have a least ten (10) years post-qualification experience as a professional accountant in a recognized tertiary institution, a practicing firm, industry, commerce or public practice.
  5. Have considerable knowledge of a university set up

Duties/Responsibilities

The Director of Finance shall:

  1. Offer professional advice on the University’s financial arrangements and performances
  2. Be the custodian of all accounting records
  3. Control the disbursement of funds and ensure that:
    • All financial transactions within and involving the University College are done in accordance with the Financial Administration Act, 2003 (ACT 654), Procurement Act, 2003 (ACT 663) Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (ACT 658) Financial Administration Regulation, 2004 (L.I.1802), Presbyterian University College, Ghana’s Accounting Manual, etc.
    • Supervise the preparation of financial statements of the Presbyterian University College.
  4. Design and maintain an effective and appropriate accounting and internal control systems in the Presbyterian University College, Ghana

 

DIRECTOR OF INTERNAL AUDIT

The Director of Internal Audit is the Head of the Directorate of Internal Audit and shall report directly to the President or to Council. He shall perform all customary functions of an Internal Auditor.

Qualifications/Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

  1. Possess a researched post graduate degree in Accounting related area of specialization.

Duties/Responsibility

The Director of Internal Audit shall:

  1. Assess, evaluate and promote compliance with the University’s internal policies
  2. Provide professional advice on internal controls and participate in enhancing internal audit standards and practices within the University
  3. Supervise the review and verification of records to ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
  4. Recommend, as and when necessary, actions to improve:
    • financial reporting;
    • compliance with laws and regulations; and
    • internally developed policies and procedures.
  5. Establish techniques to discover and prevent fraud;
  6. Identify and define Audit Thrust Areas Based on Risk Assessment;
