Veep Cut Sod for the Construction of a Modern Sports Complex

The Vice President of the Presbyterian University College, Ghana Prof. Frank S. Arku has cut sod for the commencement of the construction of a modern sports complex for the University at the Okwahu Campus last Friday.

The Vice president in a short address at the ceremony, congratulated the 2014/2015 students’ Representative Council for initiating the project.

The Vice President further accentuated the importance of the project. “The recent achievements of our just ended PUSAG games in Kumasi, underscored the urgent need that with the right preparation and the provision of the required training facilities, our sportsmen and women, could achieve more honour to our noble University”, he said. He also intimated the need to condition the physical body for academic work.

The Vice president further assured management’s support for the project.

The modern sports complex which is sited close to the Premier Hostel of the University will have a tennis court, multi-purpose court, changing room block, a soccer pitch, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and an SRC office with a banking Hall.

The project will be executed in phases by successive SRC administrations. It is expected to be completed in 5 years.

The Vice president and the Chaplain of the University, Rev. E.Y. Blasu, sacramentally cut the sod after a short prayer.

The SRC president, Emma Larteley Brown Jnr, in a short address assured that the council will work assiduously to secure sponsorships to expedite the execution the project.

In attendance at the ceremony were, the Dean of Student Affairs, the University Chaplain, some members of staff, executives of the SRC and some students.
