{"id":2652,"date":"2015-02-07T10:43:40","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T10:43:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/main\/?page_id=2652"},"modified":"2022-09-20T08:50:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T08:50:40","slug":"accreditation-and-affliation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/site\/accreditation-and-affliation\/","title":{"rendered":"Accreditation, Affiliation and Charter Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Presbyterian University, Ghana has been accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC)\/ National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana. The GTEC also stipulates that proposed Universities be established as University Colleges and be affiliated to already established and accredited Universities. For this reason, the then Presbyterian University College, Ghana was affiliated to the University of Ghana (UG), the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC).<\/p>\n<p>The implication of this was that the University of Ghana, the University of Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology had oversight responsibilities over the growth and academic activities of the College and the respective programmes affiliated to them and jointly awarded the degrees of the College until the College attained Presidential Charter to award its own degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Having attained the Presidential Charter, the Presbyterian University, Ghana is empowered to award its own degrees for programmes run in the University.<\/p>\n<p>The journey towards Presidential Charter status started with the Agenda 2013 vision ten years after the establishment of the University in 2003. This Agenda, was spearheaded by the first Principal and first President of the University College, Prof. Kofi Sraku-Lartey and spanned from 2003 to 2014. Afterwards, a Visibility Agenda was carried out from 2014 to 2021, under Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng, the Second President of the University. Through the instrumentality of Rev. Prof. E.A. Obeng, the University College systematically and dutifully went through the various stages of the Presidential Charter process. On 30<sup>th<\/sup>August, 2022, the University was granted the Presidential Charter under Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, the Third President of the University.<\/p>\n<p>In April, 2022, Presbyterian University College, Ghana, was named among Catholic University College, Ghana, and Methodist University College, Ghana, as having qualified for the grant of the Charter Certificates by a publication on Graphic Online, and on 30<sup>th<\/sup> August, 2022, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presented the Charter Certificate to the University at the Jubilee House in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by the Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante \u2013 Moderator of the General Assembly, PCG and Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana, PUG; Rev. Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor \u2013 Clerk of the General Assembly, PCG; His Lordship Justice Prof. Nii Ashie Kotey (JSC) \u2013 PUG Council Chairman; Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu \u2013 President, PUG; Rev. Dr. Nana Opare Kwakye \u2013 Ga Presbytery Chairperson, PCG; Rev. Ishmael Dometey Asare \u2013 Akuapem Presbytery Chairperson, PCG; Mrs. Rosamund Amoako-Apenteng \u2013 General Manager of Presbyterian Schools; Prof. Frank S. Arku \u2013 Vice President, PUG; Mr. Alexander Somuah-Asamoah \u2013 Member, PUG Council; Mr. Samuel Ashitey Adjei \u2013 Member, PUG Council; Mrs. Anita Amoako-Gyimah \u2013 Member PUG Council\/Alumni President; Dr. Emmanuel Oheneba Agyenim-Boateng \u2013 Acting Registrar, PUG; Mr. John Adarkwah \u2013 Director of Finance, PUG and Mr. Emmanuel Osei Kumi \u2013 Treasury Officer, GTP (PUG Alumnus).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Presbyterian University, Ghana has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana.
