{"id":3470,"date":"2015-07-27T14:16:48","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T14:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/main\/?page_id=3470"},"modified":"2022-12-05T11:02:43","modified_gmt":"2022-12-05T11:02:43","slug":"labus","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/site\/labus\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Presbyterian University, Ghana Libraries provide comprehensive access to quality books, magazines, journals, databases, professional educational resources and effective services to support the academic and research needs of PUG students, faculty and staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Presbyterian University libraries include Okwahu Campus Library (the main campus Library), Akuapem Campus Library, Asante Akyem Campus Library, Tema Campus Library and Kumasi Campus Library. There are computers with internet connectivity in all the libraries for research and general use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Library is open to all students, faculty, staff of the PUG and the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mission Statement<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The library\u2019s mission is to select, acquire, process, organize, preserve, interpret and maintain library materials which are suitable to the academic and cultural interest of the University and community therein.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>OPENING HOURS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>DURING SEMESTER:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Monday to Friday\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9:00am \u2013 10:00pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Saturday \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9:00am \u2013 7:00pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>During Vacation:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Monday to Friday\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9:00am \u2013 10:00pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Saturday\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9:00am \u2013 7:00pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Note: The Library does not operate on Sundays and Public Holidays.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Library Registration<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All categories of users are expected to register with the library at the Circulation Desk. Some form of identification eg. An admission Letter, ID card etc. will be required for registering. For students of PUG, your student ID will serve as your library borrowing card. This must be produced before you are allowed to borrow from the library. Registration is valid for the duration of a registered programme. Users who are not members of the University community will be issued with a library card and will be charged an annual registration fee of Gh\u20b5 10.00. Replacement of lost card will cost Gh\u20b5 2.00.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>General rules<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Silence should be observed in the library at all time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Books consulted in the library should not be returned to the shelves. They should be left on the tables.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking and eating are forbidden in the library.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brief cases, handbags etc should be placed in the pigeon holes provided at the Circulation Desk. A tag will be given as receipt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Books borrowed must on no account be passed from reader to reader, but must in all cases be formally returned and re-issued at the Issue Desk.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited. Offenders will be charged on the spot.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No seat shall be reserved for any reader.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Books recalled shall be returned within 3 days or a fine shall be imposed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All borrowed books should be returned by the last day of each semester. Failure to return all library books at the end of the academic year may result in examinations results being withheld till books are returned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All readers using the library must enter through the main entry point and leave through the same point.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All library materials and equipment must be treated with care. Any damage occurring should be reported at once.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Offences and Sanctions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>OFFENCES<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>SANCTIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. Failure to return borrowed Book on date due.<\/span><\/td>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A fine of 50 Gp per day up to 7 days, there after<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">70 Gp a day for a period of one month, after which a replacement Fine will be charged.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a02. Loss or misplacement of a book(s).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The offender will pay twice the current price of book(s) in cedis, plus a processing charge of Gh\u20b5 5.00.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a03. Failure to return book and other materials on demand (i.e. when a book is recalled).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Suspension from the University plus any overdue fine.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a04. Writing in library books or underlining sentences.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Shall be liable to the current price of the book in<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cedis and lose borrowing right for one semester.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"lep\" width=\"312\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a05.
