Professor\nGyapong is a Public Health Physician and an Epidemiologist. He is the Vice\nChancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences. Prior to this, he\nwas for five years, the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Innovation and\nDevelopment and Professor in Epidemiology and Disease Control at the University\nof Ghana. He is also an Adjunct Professor of International Health at the\nGeorgetown University in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\nhad his medical education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and\nTechnology in Ghana, and later pursued a Master of Science in Public Health in\nDeveloping Countries, and a PhD in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene\nand Tropical Medicine, University of London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\npractised as a doctor in many parts of Ghana including Kumasi, Navrongo, Dormaa\nAhenkro and Bawku. He was the Director of Research and Development of the Ghana\nHealth Services for 12 years where he was responsible for health systems and\nimplementation research. He established and managed the Ghana Neglected\nDiseases Control Programme for 8years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor\nGyapong\u2019s main area of research is infectious disease epidemiology, especially\nneglected tropical diseases. He has served as chair\/member of several World\nHealth Organisation and other international and local scientific committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\nhas over 130 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a fellow of the\nGhana Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Ghana College of Physicians and\nSurgeons, the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and the American\nSociety of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene; and a Member of the Ghana Medical\nAssociation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
