The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), Asante Akyem Campus, held a comprehensive Midwifery Seminar on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, showcasing the academic and professional development of Level 400 Top-up students. The seminar formed part of a course designed to bridge theoretical learning with practical, research-informed midwifery practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seminar Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar aimed to equip students with essential competencies by focusing on four key objectives: identifying critical issues in maternal and neonatal health, planning and delivering professional public lectures, strengthening public speaking abilities, and enhancing analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for effective midwifery practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topical Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar showcased presentations from four student groups, each addressing critical themes in maternal and newborn healthcare. Topics included the midwife\u2019s role in promoting exclusive breastfeeding, advocating for respectful maternity care through a human rights lens, supporting women facing unexplained infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, and emphasizing the importance of therapeutic communication in nursing and midwifery practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar was chaired by Dr. Frank Bediako Adjei<\/strong>, Acting Dean of Faculty, and Mr. Prosper K. Nyatuame<\/strong>, Senior Assistant Registrar, whose leadership set the stage for rich academic engagement. The event also welcomed esteemed faculty members and guest speakers, including Ms. Faustina Acheampong<\/strong>, Ms. Felicia Nyame<\/strong>, Ms. Erica S. Sasemame<\/strong>, Ms. Annastacia Cynthia Sarfo<\/strong>, and special guest Ms. Janet Adapore<\/strong> from Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
