The Presbyterian University College, Ghana, has held its 8th<\/sup> annual five-day leadership training for student leaders of the University.<\/span><\/p>\n

The training seminar which was held from 6th<\/sup> to 10th<\/sup> September, 2015 and organized by the Chaplaincy and Life Value Promotion Centre is aimed at improving the leadership capabilities of the student leaders in order to respond effectively to their institutional mandate.<\/span><\/p>\n

One hundred and thirty six student leaders from four of the University\u2019s campuses attended the training seminar. The four campuses were Okwahu, Tema, Asante Akyem Agogo and Akuapem.<\/span><\/p>\n

This annual programme is organized to address leadership weaknesses of the student leaders as most of the leaders, among other things, find it difficult to manage their time; lack leadership skills; draw programmes, prepare reports; and raise funds to support projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

The University Chaplain, Rev. E. Y. Blasu, in his opening address admonished the students to take the training seminar seriously since the programme has been designed not to only make them effective and efficient leaders on campus but also on their respective jobs after school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng, welcoming the student leaders stressed the importance of student leadership stating that it is critical in the decision making process of the University.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking on the theme \u201cThe Place of Leadership in the Visibility Agenda of Presbyterian University College, Ghana\u201d, the President emphasised that it is pragmatic for students to obey rules and regulations of the school and also assist new students to settle in.<\/span><\/p>\n

He advised the new student leadership to be team members to ensure that they succeed in whatever they have planned to do towards achieving the vision of the school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The five-day leadership seminar saw students taken through topic areas such as University Structure and Organogram; Christian Leadership and Governance; Leading in Multi-Ethnic and Religious Context; Time Management and Self Assessment; and Renewed Mindsets-Sexual Reproductive Health.<\/span><\/p>\n

The others were Functions of a Secretary; Program Drawing; Program Drawing; Basic Book-Keeping and Reporting; Procurement Policies and Standard Procurements; and Synchronization of Campuses Programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The resource persons were, Mr K Amo Osei, Rev E. Y Blasu, Ms Mavis Osei, Mr. Erasmus P. A. Quartey, Mr. Erasmus P. A. Quartey, Mr. Martin Ameabuno Adombire, Dr. Dale Quist, Mr. Moses Amegbe, Mr Joshua Seattles, and Mr Isaac Newton.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following persons were elected by the students\u2019 leadership to take up leadership positions in its General Assembly. They are President- Takyi Theophilus, Vice President 1- Enock Asiedu Osafo, and Vice President 2-Dela Gaisie.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest are Secretary -Belinda Formaa, Deputy Secretary-Kateye Katherine kaki, Deputy Secretary 2-Fortune Ayoroh, Financial Secretary-Victoria Ofori Duah, Treasurer- Gerdy Narteky Tetteh, and PRO-Kelvin Afrane.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
