{"id":4135,"date":"2016-04-29T12:49:42","date_gmt":"2016-04-29T12:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/main\/?p=4135"},"modified":"2016-04-29T12:49:42","modified_gmt":"2016-04-29T12:49:42","slug":"pucg-staff-beaten-in-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/site\/pucg-staff-beaten-in-games\/","title":{"rendered":"PUCG Staff beaten in Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Okwahu Campus of Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) organized a Sporting Festival as part of activities marking the 10<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Chaplaincy Week Celebration held from 10<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to 17<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> April, 2016 under the theme \u201cVisibility \u2013 Anointed to Endure in Divine Wisdom\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The games were organized to foster good relationship between staff and students, create an avenue for staff and students interaction through competitive fun games, and also for both staff and students to exercise and stay fit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The International Student Team, Ghanaian Student Team, and the Academic and Administrative Staff Team competed in the highly publicized Football and Volleyball games. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The International Student Football Team was beaten three goals to one by the Ghanaian Student Team in a highly competitive match. The many International Students who thronged the games venue were disappointed as their much touted team lost, in spite of the massive support they gave to the team. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The Ghanaian Student Team, having won the opening game against the International Student Team then pitched a football battle with the Academic and Administrative Staff Team in the Final of the football game which they won by two goals to nil. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The presence and support of the President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng who kicked off the games, Mr. K. Amo Osei the Registrar, Rev. Dr. G. O. Lartey, Rev. Kofi Antwi the acting Chaplain and some senior members of the University created enough motivation for the Staff Team. However, this resource could not save them from defeats which were largely self-inflicted. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Preceding the football competition, the Ghanaian Student Volleyball Team had engaged the Staff Volleyball Team in a game that the former won by 3 straight sets. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The PUCG Staff Team had trained hard for a couple of weeks prior to the football match but were betrayed by stamina, sluggish defending resulting in the first goal and a \u2018classic\u2019 own-goal from Dan, one of the team\u2019s highly rated midfielders. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The Staff Team had hoped before the match that it\u2019s controversial but free-scoring striker, Godlove who had banged in 8 goals in 3 warm-up games was going to deliver the goods.
