The Health Screening exercise is an annual event organized by the Department of Physician Assistantship of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Asante Akyem Campus. This year\u2019s exercise at Afrisere, which is about 21 kilometres from Asante Akyem Agogo screened 972 people including children.<\/p>\n
At the end of the exercise, 122 cases were referred to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital for further examination and treatment. About 50 students took part in the health screening exercise which screened people for STDs, Postural Hypertension, Diabetes Melitus, Anemia and Nutritional deficiencies.<\/p>\n
The Health Screening exercise is organized annually by the Department of Physician Assistantship to support the communities in the catchment area of the Asante Akyem Campus of the Presbyterian University College, which do not have access to basic health service centres in the communities.<\/p>\n
The University creates opportunities such as this for its students to impart society positively with the Godly values they imbibe through the training of their head, heart and hands at the University where disciplined leaders are nurtured.<\/p>\n
Before the team of students got to Afrisere on the day of the exercise, people from the town and some nearby communities had gathered at the location earmarked for the screening exercise.<\/p>\n
Most of the people the staff of the University spoke to were delighted of the support to them and requested that the screening be done regularly.<\/p>\n
