Barclays Bank Plc. under the Barclays Shared Growth Agenda Scholarship for tertiary education has presented laptops to eleven students of Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) who are beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme at a ceremony at the Okwahu Campus of the University.<\/p>\n

The presentation of the laptops is part of the scholarship package which also includes the students\u2019 tuition fees, hostel and academic facility user fees and feeding allowance for the 2017\/2018 Academic Year.<\/p>\n

Mr. Evans Quaidoo, the Regional Manager \u2013 Retail and Business Banking for Eastern, Volta and parts of the Greater Accra regions said that Barclays Bank Africa\/ Ghana instituted the Barclays Shared Growth Agenda so that its communities would benefit from the bank\u2019s growth over the years.<\/p>\n

Mr. Quaidoo explained that the Shared Growth Agenda benefits its communities through three key pillars, which are education and skills development, enterprise development and financial inclusion.<\/p>\n

He said the education and skills development model is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry through its ready to work programme which gives students hands-on skills in industry, and support brilliant students who require financial assistance \u2013 for which reason the scholarship has been instituted.<\/p>\n

The awardees have been made ambassadors of Barclays Africa \/Ghana through projects initiated by the Bank purposely for this cause.<\/p>\n

The President of Presbyterian University College, Ghana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng on behalf of the University Council, Management and the entire staff and students of the University, expressed gratitude to Barclays Bank and implored the Bank to expand the scholarship facility to benefits many students who are in dire need of such support.<\/p>\n

Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng praised Barclays Bank for supporting the development of education in the country assuring them that Barclays\u2019 choice of PUCG for this facility is the best as the University strides to produce students who are intellectually capable and disciplined to support the development of the country.<\/p>\n

In his welcome remarks at the ceremony, the Registrar of PUCG, Mr. K. Amo Osei implored the awardees to justify the investments of Barclays Africa\/Ghana by attaining higher heights in the education and becoming products of the University who will not add to the problems of the country but provide solutions towards sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries are Amo-Aboagye Kwaku (ICT), Asare Kenneth (ICT), Gyimah Isaac Newman (ICT), Sefah William Wiafe (ICT), Yin Clement (Mathematics), Nazah Kwame (Mathematics), Asantewaa Angelina (Business Administration), Acheampong Mavis Awukubea (Agribusiness), Asante Bernard (Physician Assistantship), Bampoe Godwin (Nursing) and Ampadu Mavis Ofosua (Environmental and Natural Resources Management).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
