The Students Entrepreneurship\nFair 2019 aims at creating opportunities in bridging the gap between academia\nand industry to enable students to interact with industry players on developing\ntheir concepts into services and products; and for both students and industry\nto showcase their creativity and innovation to the general public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The District Chief Executive\n(DCE) of Kwahu East District Assembly, Honourable Isaac Agyepong congratulated\nthe University for coming up with such a programme and pledged the Assembly\u2019s support\nto the programme especially youth entrepreneurship and local economic\ndevelopment activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The DCE said \u201cthe District\nAssembly in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, is vigorously\ndeveloping the much needed productive infrastructure \u2013 roads, electricity,\nwater and markets \u2013 to attract both local and foreign investors in line with\nthe One District-One Factory, One District-One Exportable Product, Planting for\nFood and Investment, and Planting for Food and Jobs initiatives in order to\nattain a Ghana Beyond Aid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hon. Isaac Agyapong encouraged\nthe students to study entrepreneurship, creativity and innovative skills so as\nto work and expand employment opportunities and contribute to the country\u2019s\neconomic growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In launching the Students\nEntrepreneurship Fair 2019, the President of Presbyterian University College,\nGhana, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng implored the media to publicize the Fair\nfor the general public to acknowledge the impact of the University in its\nsurrounding communities and on the economy of Ghana as a whole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The President expressed his joy\nthat the Fair will give students at the second cycle school levels as well as\ntertiary institutions the opportunity to showcase their innovation and\ncreativity as well as interact with industry players for their mutual benefit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He believes that this annual\nevent will be a platform for exhibitors to improve on their services and\nproducts to drive the Ghanaian economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Acting Dean of the School of\nBusiness and Economics, Mr. Agyemang Badu, said for the theme – Ghana Beyond\nAid: Promoting Student Entrepreneurial Creativity and Innovation – to become a\nreality, students and the general public should take advantage of government\nand private opportunities like the one being offered by PUCG. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Acting Dean believes Ghana\nneeds a structural change in the economy to sustain growth through a national\npolicy which he noted will play a vital role in the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Agyemang Badu challenged\nacademia to adopt teaching and learning that is geared towards creativity and\ninnovation in order to become relevant to industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In her remarks, the Chairperson\nfor the occasion, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong, the Registrar of PUCG, expressed\ngratitude to the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, the Planning\nCommittee, the Kwahu East District Assembly and the media partners for working\ntowards making the Students Entrepreneurship Fair a reality. She implored them\nnot to rest on their oars but work hard to make the event a success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Enoch Kissi, the Marketing\nand Brands Manager of Agoo FM who doubled up as a representative of EIB Group\nspoke on behalf of the media partners and said the media was excited to be part\nof the event and pledged to do their best to make the event successful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The four-day Fair which is\nscheduled to start at 10am and close at 8pm each day expects 100 exhibitors out\nof which 40 percent would be dedicated to students from various institutions\nand alumni of PUCG for free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The other 60 percent exhibitors\nwill pay an amount of GH\u20b5400.00 per stand for the four-day Fair. About 5000\nvisitors comprising students and the general public are expected to visit the\nFair grounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Ministry of Trade and\nIndustry, and the Association of Ghana Industries are providing technical\nsupport to the Fair. The Kwahu East District Assembly is the main partner of\nthe Fair.
