{"id":7117,"date":"2019-03-03T08:05:21","date_gmt":"2019-03-03T08:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/site\/?p=7117"},"modified":"2019-03-06T08:09:14","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T08:09:14","slug":"pucg-graduates-248-master-of-education-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.presbyuniversity.edu.gh\/site\/pucg-graduates-248-master-of-education-students\/","title":{"rendered":"PUCG Graduates 248 Master of Education Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Presbyterian\nUniversity College, Ghana (PUCG) has graduated 248 students representing 95\npercent completion rate of students who enrolled on the Master of Education in\nEducational Studies programme for the 2017\/2018 Academic year. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number consists of\n125 males and 123 females. The graduands come from different backgrounds and\nprofessional areas, and these include teaching, finance, religion, and\nadministration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nCongregation of the School of Graduate Studies on the theme, \u201cThe Role of\nGraduate Teachers in Educational Reforms,\u201d the President of PUCG, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Rev.\nProf. Emmanuel Adow Obeng reiterated that the Programme opens a multi-directional\ncareer path for students. He said the knowledge and skills acquired make the\ngraduates marketable for other job markets including education policy\ndevelopment, non-profit organizations, private school consultation, social\nwork, corporate training, curriculum development, and writing of content in\neducation areas for business websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI assure everyone that these graduating\nstudents have been empowered to become change agents, and effective\ncommunicators. They have a flair for diversity, and can motivate others to\nachieve their goals,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rev. Prof.\nEmmanuel Adow Obeng noted that in spite of the many educational reforms Ghana\nhas had in the past 60 years there have been failures in achieving their\nobjectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These can be\nattributed to among others, <strong>inconsistency in Government policies,\ninadequate funding, lack of proper mentoring and most importantly, and\nunfortunately the menace of basing education reforms on party manifestoes\ninstead of national development agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the President believes these\ngraduates would play key and significant roles in the country and beyond, in\nthe face of the ever-changing policy reforms in the educational sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cT<strong>hese\ngraduates have a role to play to change the course of education in this country\nand offer its beneficiaries, the knowledge and skills required to pursue their\ninterests, be successful, and contribute to the nation\u2019s economic, social, and\npolitical development,\u201d he underscored. <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rev. Prof.\nEmmanuel Adow Obeng said the graduates have been imbued with the tenets of\ndiscipline, honesty, integrity, and faith in God to help them deliver on their\nmandate irrespective of the odds pitched against them.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some of the\ncourses taken include Leading and Educational Technologies, School Reform and\nEffectiveness, Educational Leadership and Policy, Principles and Methods of\nTeaching, Human Development and Learning, and Guidance and Counseling.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulating the\ngraduands, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante, Moderator of the General Assembly, PCG<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Moderator disclosed\nthat in its quest to bring back discipline in the Ghana society the PUCG\nthrough its Chaplaincy Unit runs life value courses and various activities to\ntrain the individuals on the bases of the 3H \u2013 meaning the Head, Heart and the\nHand. \u201cThese make our trainees stand out from the crowd wherever they go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O.
