The President said the\nprogramme was intended to provide openings for graduates, who want to be trained\nas teachers, professional graduate teachers, who want to upgrade their\nqualifications, and update their skills, as well as those who want to acquire\nskills as trainers of trainers, administrators, and managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rev.\nProf. Emmanuel Adow Obeng reiterated that the Programme opens a multi-directional\ncareer path for students. He said the knowledge and skills acquired make the\ngraduates marketable for other job markets including education policy\ndevelopment, non-profit organizations, private school consultation, social\nwork, corporate training, curriculum development, and writing of content in\neducation areas for business websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI assure everyone that these graduating\nstudents have been empowered to become change agents, and effective\ncommunicators. They have a flair for diversity, and can motivate others to\nachieve their goals,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Rev. Prof.\nEmmanuel Adow Obeng noted that in spite of the many educational reforms Ghana\nhas had in the past 60 years there have been failures in achieving their\nobjectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n These can be\nattributed to among others, inconsistency in Government policies,\ninadequate funding, lack of proper mentoring and most importantly, and\nunfortunately the menace of basing education reforms on party manifestoes\ninstead of national development agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n But the President believes these\ngraduates would play key and significant roles in the country and beyond, in\nthe face of the ever-changing policy reforms in the educational sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese\ngraduates have a role to play to change the course of education in this country\nand offer its beneficiaries, the knowledge and skills required to pursue their\ninterests, be successful, and contribute to the nation\u2019s economic, social, and\npolitical development,\u201d he underscored. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Rev. Prof.\nEmmanuel Adow Obeng said the graduates have been imbued with the tenets of\ndiscipline, honesty, integrity, and faith in God to help them deliver on their\nmandate irrespective of the odds pitched against them.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Some of the\ncourses taken include Leading and Educational Technologies, School Reform and\nEffectiveness, Educational Leadership and Policy, Principles and Methods of\nTeaching, Human Development and Learning, and Guidance and Counseling.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Congratulating the\ngraduands, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante, the substantive Moderator of the\nPresbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) said the aim of every country is to have\ndisciplined citizenry who can steer the affairs of the nation at all levels and\nit is in the light of this that the PCG and for that matter the PUCG have made\ndiscipline one of its hallmarks of the University\u2019s doctrines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Moderator disclosed\nthat in its quest to bring back discipline in the Ghana society the PUCG\nthrough its Chaplaincy Unit runs life value courses and various activities to\ntrain the individuals on the bases of the 3H \u2013 meaning the Head, Heart and the\nHand. \u201cThese make our trainees stand out from the crowd wherever they go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y.\nMante charged the graduands to always be minded about their core mandate, which\nis imparting knowledge to students, and be guided by the core values of PUCG \u2013\nExcellence, Commitment, Integrity, Discipline and Faith in God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Moderator implored\nthem to always remember that as teachers they are nation builders and have the\ncapacity to influencing students inside and outside the classroom serving as\nmentors, and role models with an attitude to always listen to them and help\nthem transform their environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The representative of the mentoring\ninstitution (University of Cape Coast) for the Master of Education, Prof. Kofi Tsivanyo Yiboe, the Dean of the\nFaculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Education, commended the PUCG for\nhigh standards of education and recommended its programmes to those who aspire\nfor University education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Prof. Kofi Tsivanyo Yiboe\nencouraged the graduands to take high interest in research as that would make\nthem exceptional in the discharge of their mandate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He also asked them to think of possibilities of creating their own\nbusinesses to help employ others in the quest to reduce the level of\nunemployment in the country. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) has graduated 248 students representing 95 percent completion rate of students who enrolled on the Master of Education in Educational Studies programme for the 2017\/2018 Academic year.
