The Department of Business Administration and Economics of the Okwahu Campus\nof the Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) have organized the second\nedition of the Business and Economics Quiz Competition for Senior High Schools in\n Kwahu. This year\u2019s competition saw an\nincrease of participating schools from four schools to eight schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competing schools were grouped into two\ncategories. Group A consisted of St. Peters Senior High (who were the winners\nof the first edition), Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High, Bepong Senior High and\nNkawkaw Senior High. Group B consisted of Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High, St.\nPaul\u2019s Senior High, Kwahu Ridge Senior High and St. Dominic\u2019s Senior High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Peters Senior High School won the four-round competition with 38 points.\nBepong Senior High School, and St. Paul\u2019s Senior High School were 1st<\/sup>\nand 2nd<\/sup> runner ups respectively with 24 and 23 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Competition was organized to foster closer ties among Senior High\nSchools in the catchment area of the University; promote closer relationships\nbetween the University and Senior High Schools in the area; create a healthy\nacademic competition among students offering Business; and offer an avenue to\nprepare final year students for the final WASSCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his opening remarks, the Dean of School of Business and Economics, Mr.\nEbenezer Agyeman Badu commended the participated schools about their\npreparation and commitment that ensured the success of the competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He disclosed that the Department plans to extend the Business and Economics\nquiz to cover the Eastern Region and the country as a whole in the near\nfuture.  He believes that this would make the study of Business and\nEconomics attractive at both the Senior High School and the Tertiary levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tutors of the participating schools shared similar views as they\nexpressed the delight about the organization of the competition and encouraged\nthe University to extend the competition to the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students who contested for their schools also\nexpressed their joy for being part of the second edition of the competition and\nalso hoped that their schools would be part of the next edition. They agreed\nthat the competition has set the tone for them to prepare well towards their upcoming\nWASSCE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were again of the opinion that extending the\ncompetition to the regional and subsequently national level will help the study\nof business and economics in the Senior High Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Paul Adjei Kwakwa, the Head of Department for\nthe Business Administration and Economics, as part of the closing remarks\nexpressed appreciation to Ghana Oil (GOIL) Mpraeso Branch, GCB Bank, Mpraeso\nBranch and the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Eastern-Volta-Oti Chapter\nfor their financial support towards the organization of the competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was equally grateful to the leadership of the\nBusiness and Administration Students Association (BASA) and Association of\nBusiness Economics Students (ABES) for their massive support that ensured a successful\ncompetition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
