The Presbyterian\nUniversity College, Ghana (PUCG) has introduced Emotional Intelligence to its\neducational setup aimed at equipping both staff and students with the ability\nand discipline to look inside themselves, tap into their capabilities for\nharnessing their emotions and managing their resilience and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maiden seminar on\nEmotional Intelligence was held for staff and students at the Okwahu Campus of\nthe University. This is part of introductory lecture arrangement in\ncollaboration with Addison International Center for Emotional Intelligence, the\nNation\u2019s premier emotional intelligence consulting agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PUCG looks forward\nto establishing a whole student educational development approach which intends\nto build measurable emotional resilience, alongside enriching existing\nintellectual, physical and spiritual development of the students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. James Kwesi Addison,\nwho is the master trainer at Addison International Center for Emotional\nIntelligence was optimistic of the impact that the approach to educational\ndevelopment will have on the students noting that such valuable life skill is\nnot limited to only managing oneself and relationship but also how it\ninfluences effectiveness, quality of life, wellbeing and productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 He re-affirms his commitment on behalf Addison\nInternational Center for Emotional Intelligence to this project by the PUCG. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Addison stated\nthat introducing staff and students to Emotional Intelligence would assist them\ndevelop a process for looking inside themselves and have better understanding\non how to monitor their emotional responses and analyse how emotions are\nshaping their thoughts and behaviours during real-life situations they\nencounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Registrar of PUCG,\nMrs. Mary Abena Agyepong reiterated the fact that since emotions are involved\nin everything that a person does which includes distressing emotions and how we\nrespond to distressing emotions should be a big concern for all institutions of\nlearning and development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Registrar was\ntherefore excited that the University has identified this gap and is now taking\nsteps to help both staff and students to build emotional strength. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice President of\nPUCG, Professor Frank S. Arku described the seminar as needful and timely and\ncalled for sustenance of the seminars to ensure workplace emotional safety of\nstaff to enhance productivity and get students well prepared for the real life\nsituations that awaits them after academics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a similar response,\nthe Dean of Students, Dr. John Adu Kumi was particularly happy that students\nwill be able to use the emotional intelligence, its competencies and tools to\nbuild their mental resilience.
