The Presbyterian University College,\nGhana (PUCG) has introduced Emotional Intelligence to its educational setup\naimed at equipping both staff and students with the ability and discipline to\nlook inside themselves, tap into their capabilities for harnessing their\nemotions and managing their resilience and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The maiden seminar on Emotional\nIntelligence was held for staff and students at the Okwahu Campus of the\nUniversity. This is part of introductory lecture arrangement in collaboration\nwith Addison International Center for Emotional Intelligence, the Nation\u2019s\npremier emotional intelligence consulting agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PUCG looks forward to\nestablishing a whole student educational development approach which intends to\nbuild measurable emotional resilience, alongside enriching existing\nintellectual, physical and spiritual development of the students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. James Kwesi Addison, who is the\nmaster trainer at Addison International Center for Emotional Intelligence was\noptimistic of the impact that the approach to educational development will have\non the students noting that such valuable life skill is not limited to only managing\noneself and relationship but also how it influences effectiveness, quality of\nlife, wellbeing and productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He re-affirms his commitment on behalf Addison\nInternational Center for Emotional Intelligence to this project by the PUCG. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Addison stated that introducing\nstaff and students to Emotional Intelligence would assist them develop a\nprocess for looking inside themselves and have better understanding on how to monitor\ntheir emotional responses and analyse how emotions are shaping their thoughts\nand behaviours during real-life situations they encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Registrar of PUCG, Mrs. Mary\nAbena Agyepong reiterated the fact that since emotions are involved in\neverything that a person does which includes distressing emotions and our\nresponse to their emotions should be a big concern for all institutions of\nlearning and development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Registrar was therefore excited\nthat the University has identified this gap and is now taking steps to help\nboth staff and students to build emotional strength. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vice President of PUCG,\nProfessor Frank S. Arku described the seminar as needful and timely and called\nfor sustenance of the seminar to ensure workplace emotional safety of staff to\nenhance productivity and get students well prepared for the real life\nsituations that awaits them after academics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a similar response, the Dean of\nStudents, Dr. John Adu Kumi was particularly happy that students will be able\nto use the emotional intelligence, its competencies and tools to build their mental\nresilience.
