The competition saw the number of invited schools increased to 12. This figure is four and eight more the number of invited schools for the second and the first editions, respectively.\u00a0 Such increment is to make the event more competitive according to the Head of Department, Dr. Paul Adjei Kwakwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Business and Economics, Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang Badu indicated that the rationale of the quiz competition include among other things the need to promote the studies of business and economics education in the country and build a healthy rapport among students reading business programme at the SHS level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He praised the Department of Business Administration and Economics for not just holding the third edition but also increasing the number of competing schools to 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Dean, however challenged them to include some schools outside the Eastern Region to the competition, especially the nearby Ashanti Region schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although three schools could not make it for the competition on technical grounds, the nine that participated did not disappoint as they gave each other a tough time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With nine schools, they were put into three groups to select four schools for the finals. In their group, St Peter\u2019s SHS, beat St Paul\u2019s SHS and Nkawkaw SHS to emerge as the winners. While Okuapemman SHS from Akropong Akuapem emerged as leaders of their group after beating St Dominic\u2019s SHS and Bepong SHS,\u00a0 \u00a0Aburi Girls SHS also beat Mpraeso SHS and Kwahu Ridge SHS to lead the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For emerging as the best second school at the group stages, Bepong SHS joined St. Peter\u2019s, Okuapemman and Aburi Girls SHS in the finals which saw St Peter\u2019s SHS carry the day as winners. This makes St Peter\u2019s three consecutive champions. Aburi Girls took the second position with Okuapemman SHS coming third after a tie break with Bepong SHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Paul Adjei Kwakwa, the Head of Department of the Business Administration and Economics, as part of the closing remarks expressed appreciation to the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Eastern-Volta-Oti Chapter for their financial support towards the organization of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was equally grateful to the leadership of the Business and Administration Students Association (BASA) for their massive support that ensured a successful competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He was also thankful to the teachers and students of the various schools for making the competition successful. He indicated that the plan of making the competition a national event is still on course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The tutors of the participating schools shared similar views as they expressed the delight about the organization of the competition and encouraged the University to extend the competition to the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The students who contested as well as their mates also expressed their joy for being part of the third edition of the competition and also hoped that their schools would be part in the next edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They agreed that the competition has set the tone for them to prepare well towards their upcoming WASSCE.
