The Burns Nutrition Educational Project (B-NEP) led by Dr Jonathan Bayuo, a lecturer at the Nursing and Midwifery Department of the Presbyterian University, Ghana has been awarded an amount of 20,000 USD by the Nestle Foundation, Switzerland following a competitive and rigorous review process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The proposed study seeks to develop and pilot a nutrition education programme for burn survivors following discharge from the burn unit in the middle and northern belts of Ghana. The study will focus on both adult and paediatric burn survivors (and their caregivers) recruited from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the pilot results, the study team will follow-up with a large scale randomized controlled trial to ascertain the effects of the nutrition educational programme on clinical and caregiver outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth highlighting the mentors who will continue to serve as advisors for the project: Prof Pius Agbenorku (Professor, SMS-KNUST & KATH), Prof Frances Kam Yuet Wong (Chair Professor, PolyU), Dr Anita Eseenam Agbeko (Consultant Surgeon, KATH), Dr Paa Ekow Hoyte-Williams (Plastic Surgeon, KATH), and Dr Arkers Wong (Assistant Professor, SN, PolyU) as well as the team members: Ms. Joyce Pwavra (University of Ghana), Mr. Jephtah Davids (University of Ghana), Mr. Prince Kyei Baffour (East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, UK), and Mr. Frank Bediako Agyei (Presbyterian University, Ghana)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
