Overview

This is a 4-year programme leading to the award BSc. Physician Assistantship and is based at the Asante Akyem Campus, Agogo. The programme is affiliated to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.


Admission Requirements

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Applicants

Applicants must have aggregate score of 36 or better in six subjects (3 Core and 3 electives). The Core subjects and minimum grades are: grade C6 or better in Mathematics, English Language and integrated Science. The elective subjects should include credit in 3 Science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics.

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Applicants

Applicants must have aggregate score of 24 or better in six subjects (3 Core and 3 electives). The Core subjects and minimum grades are: grade D or better in Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science. The elective subjects should include credit in 3 Science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics.

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

GCE Applicant must have five credits at the Ordinary Level Examination or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics and either Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science or (ii) General Science and any other subject.

In addition, the applicant should obtain three passes at the GCE Advance Level or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics and Biology or Agricultural Science.

Advanced Diploma / Diploma Applicants

Diploma holders in Physician Assistantship with a minimum of B+ average/second class upper and three years working experience in addition to the basic qualification at WASSCE/SSSCE/OL may be admitted to the Third Year of the programme. All other diploma holders in a related programme would be admitted to the second year.


Mature Applicants

Mature Applicants must be Nurses with SRN or RGN certificates. Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years or above with five (5) credits in five (5) GCE ‘O’Levels or six passes at the WASSCE / SSSCE subjects including English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science.

 

International Students

International students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the West African Examinations Council shall determine equivalence. Evidence of proficiency in English will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
