CCPD 18th Edition of Online Certificate Programme, July. 2025

The Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), Centre for Continuous Professional Development (CCPD) is organizing 3 weeks of intensive online certificate courses from Monday July 28 to August 14, 2025. Lectures will be organised online from Monday to Thursday, from 6 pm GMT to 9 pm GMT.
The cost per programme is GH¢1000 per local participant, and US$ 200 per international participant. PUG alumni, PUG students, and Presbyterians will have a 25 % discount. The courses are as follows:


  1. Certificate in Rural and Community Banking

Rationale
This course is designed to enable understanding, appreciation and critical examination of the role of rural and community banks in the banking ecosystem. This is especially relevant because of the need for deepened financial inclusion across the country. With the ever increasing and ever changing rate of financial access expansion across the globe, there is the need to enhance the knowledge base of stakeholders who have an exciting interest in the financial inclusion for development space.
Thus participants would gain the appropriate knowledge and analytical skills that can be applied in their respective career space, including the corporate, governmental and non-profit sectors.
Rural banking refers to providing banking services to individuals living in rural areas. Rural banking has become integral to the Ghanaian financial markets with a majority of Ghanaian population still living in rural or semi-urban areas. Today, rural and community banks are present in over 850 branch locations throughout the length and breadth of the country.

Goal
The programme is uniquely designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge base and ability to manage rural and community banking and other allied multifaceted financial institutions as a member of a board, and work effectively as teams and leaders in either micro finance, savings and loans companies across the country.

  1. Certificate in Financial Risk Management
    Rationale

The global accountancy, banking, insurance and financial system is changing very fast which impacts on the operations of firms and institutions of which those operating in Ghana cannot be exempted. The financial system has in addition, undergone major restructuring in preparation for the new regulatory frameworks, and responding to the ever changing economic and global environment affecting existing roles and creating new skill sets and requirements for the creation of risk management divisions of financial institutions.
