President of Presbyterian University College, Ghana Addresses Ministers Conference

Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, the President of Presbyterian University College, Ghana (PUCG) addressed the 2022 Ministers Conference of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) held in Kumasi.

The President thanked the Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante, the Ministers and the Church for their immense support to the University over the years including the financial support to complete the Premier hostel at the Okwahu Campus.

While assuring the Ministers’ Conference of his resolve to bring all expertise to bear in growing the University to become an international centre of excellence with the focus on Presbyterian Philosophy of education which espouse the virtues of excellence, discipline, hard work, integrity and commitment.

The President also assured the Ministers that challenges associated with the implementation of the rebate to Presbyterian students offering various programmes at the University, and issues of fee payment of students being sponsored by the Church would be tackled with urgency.

He appealed to the Presbyteries of the Church to consider the Moderator’s proposal to the last General Assembly for the Presbyteries to institute a scholarship scheme for brilliant students who benefited from the free education at the Senior High School level who do not have the financial support for tertiary education.

Prof. Oduro Owusu said such a scheme would give opportunities to needy youth in the Church to have tertiary education and pursue careers at the benefit of the church also.

The President called for greater collaboration between the Church and the University which would include the development of human resource of the Church.

The President, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu was accompanied by the University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Frank Adu and the Principal Public Relations Assistant, Emmanuel Ako-Gyima.

The President, on behalf of the University made a donation to the Ministers’ Conference.
