The Presbyterian University College, Ghana Okwahu Campus has held an inter-level debate competition for the first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year. This debate was organized by the Academic Committee of the SRC in order to unearth the debating potentials in students and also to foster healthy competition amongst the various levels.

The University College is the defending champion of the Inter Private Universities Debate (IPUD) organized by TP Consult on behalf of the Private Universities Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG). The inter-level debate was also organized to serve as a preparatory platform for the debaters in their quest to defend the title as the first winners of the maiden edition of IPUD.

The debate ballot resulted in the level 100 (against the motion) debating with the level 400 (for the motion) on the topic, “Our leaders are to blame for our woes as a continent (Africa)”. This was the first debate and it attracted much attention from the student populace and in the end, the level 100 emerged as winners.

The second debate for the afternoon as per balloting was between level 200 (for the motion) and 300 (against the motion) but the debaters for level 300 failed to show up, making the level 200 automatic winners for their section of debate after making their presentation.

The motion to have been debated on was “Whether or not marijuana should be legalised”.

The two levels that emerged as winners would compete in the finals of the inter-level debate in the upcoming SRC week celebration. The debate was well partronized by students from all levels.
