ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: JOSEPHINE BEMPONG WINS HEALTH ACTIVIST OF THE YEAR

The CEO of Josey Health Corner, Josephine Bempong, won the Health Activist/Advocate of the year 2022 award at the inaugural Health Entrepreneurship and Achievers Awards, which were sponsored by Divine Mother and Child Foundation and Best Brain Networks.

The awards were intended to recognize health professionals who are making a significant contribution to society and the nation as a whole.

Josey’s Health Corner is a health platform that aims to inform individuals about medical disorders and provide them with advice on how to maintain good health. They hold the view that an enlightened individual will make the community and the global environment a better place to live in.

In order to help people learn how to live a healthy lifestyle, they provide health education on their WhatsApp platform, share health tips on Instagram, and host health talk shows on Health and Safety Television (HSTV), radio stations (which began with LiveFm), in churches, as well as organizing health screenings.

Josephine enrolled at Presbyterian University College, Ghana in 2014 to study a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistantship. She received a Second-Class Honors degree in 2018 (Upper Division) and was posted to Achimota Hospital in Accra for her National Service in 2019.

Josephine worked there for a year before moving to Legon Hospital for her obligatory internship, which she completed in 2021. She is currently employed as a Physician Assistant at Celestial Medicare Clinic.

Josey, as she is affectionately known by her friends, joined the Young Achievers Club in Junior High school (Ave Maria) as part of her quest to achieve greater heights. There, she was taught how to be a great leader, how to impact lives and how to serve people well.

Again, she demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and knowledge that had a profound influence when serving as the Science Vice President of her Senior High school (Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High School). She took a few positions during her time in college succeeded brilliantly hence, it is not surprising that she is succeeding in her role as CEO of Josey’s Health Corner.

She is a devoted Christian, born to Ing. Benjamin OdeiBempong (Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at Presbyterian University, Ghana) and Mrs. Regina AwukubeaBempong of blessed memory and is the third born amongst four children.

Miss Josephine is passionate about gospel music in addition to her career as a physician assistant. She enjoys singing at home while performing domestic duties.

While attending college, she participated in the Celestial Echoes Choir and Vessels of Honour. She presently performs with the Grace Minstrels at the Mamobi Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. She enjoys singing, reading, running a business, and always educating others in the greatest way possible.

Josephine aspires to be a celebrated cardiothoracic surgeon and a health advocate in the near future. She sees this award as an inspiration to work harder in her chosen career.
