Young Entrepreneur Inspires PUCG Students

As part of Presbyterian University College, Ghana’s (PUCG) mandate to make her graduates capable of starting their own enterprises and successfully managing them, the University organizes periodic business seminars for the students to reinforce the teaching of entrepreneurship as a wide course in the University.

The maiden Alumni Business Seminar hosted a genius alumnus, Kwame Amfo-Akonnor who has turned a passionate past time into a flourishing business.

Kwame Amfo-Akonnor graduated in 2017 majoring in Human Resource Management from the School of Business and Economics. As a private chef, he has set up a business, Biishville, located at East Legon in Accra which has received United Nations’ recognition.

Speaking on the topic “Start Up Right” Kwame Amfo-Akonnor inspired his audience who had filled the auditorium for the Business Seminar to be determined, remain focus and challenge the status quo if they are to make it with whatever they have taken to do.

He recounted how challenging it was when he started his business with only Ȼ300.00 but through his innovation which included employing social media tactics and boldly approaching some prominent persons in society to support his vision, he has successfully reached this stage that has received recognition from the UN Refugee Agency.

Kwame Amfo-Akonnor admonished audience to take their training at PUCG serious stating “I am a proud alumnus of this University”.

His delivery focused on Identifying and Nurturing Business Ideas, Challenges and Prospects, Team Building and Business Diversity, and Technology against Tradition.

The students who were enthused about his prowess focused their questions on how easy it is to start a business, how to build a unique business brand, how to build a team to start a business among others.

Most of the participants who spoke to the Public Relations Office of the University said they were encouraged to work hard towards starting their own enterprise after their University education.

The Registrar, Mr. K. Amo Osei who opened the seminar commended the organizers for the inviting an alumnus to speak at such an important event. He said it was a testimony of the University’s profile of providing wholistic education to her students.

He disclosed that the University is putting in place mechanism to support graduates who desire to start private projects to be successful.
